Indeed it is something which happens. You are not a doer. Can you control your own breathing? Can you control your own poop? Some of the things happen on its own. When you are effortless, choiceless and full of joy something unique comes to you. When your thoughts become still some thing happens to you. When there is no mind some thing happens, that is nothing but meditation.
This is most important event in one's life to realize that you are neither body nor mind. Whatever worries, stress, tension happens to you actually does not happen to you, it happens to your mind.
And you are not mind.
